Biomolecular Simulation 2007: faster, bigger, better

The inaugural CCPB conference

Biomolecular Simulation 2007 - the first annual meeting of the Collaborative Computational Project for Biomolecular Simulation (CCPB) - was held at the University of Nottingham, UK between the 3rd and 5th January 2007.

CCPB was established the previous year with the support of the BBSRC, with the remit of 'increasing the UK's capacity and capability in Biomolecular Simulation'. CCPB runs technical workshops, a web site, and supports outreach activities to foster collaborations between experimentalists and theoreticians. The flagship event is the annual conference, the first of which was on 3rd-5th January 2007.

The theme of the conference was 'Faster, Bigger, Better', with the aim of showcasing important advances in technology, theory, and methodology that are impacting on the power and significance of biomolecular simulation as a technique for addressing important biological problems.

Biomolecular Simulation 2007 was not just for experts in the field: the aim was to provide a forum where everyone interested in applying these techniques to their work can get practical information to enhance their research. With the support of the BBSRC, the conference represented extremely good value for money, with generous subsidies particularly for UK-based academics and students.
